WHO AM I
2nd concerto by CHOPIN
PLEYEL room in PARIS
At the age of 12.
French of Russian origin, I began learning the piano at the age of 3 1/2 with my mother Nadia TAGRINE.
I won numerous awards at an early age, which gave me the opportunity to play in Paris with the ORTF orchestra at the age of 12 in the Salle Pleyel, and in recital at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in subsequent years.
At the age of 16, I obtained my 1st prizes in piano and chamber music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in the classes of Lucette DESCAVES and Jean HUBEAU.
The following years, I was accepted into the 3rd cycle, again at the CNSMP, in Ventsislav YANKOFF's piano class and Jean HUBEAU's chamber music class.
At the age of 17, I won the 1st Grand Prize in the Robert CASADESUS International Competition in Cleveland (USA).
The same year, I was appointed soloist for RADIO-FRANCE.
Several awards followed in international competitions: Epinal, Clara Haskil (Vevey-Montreux), Chopin (Majorca), Young Concert Artists (New York), Marguerite LONG (Paris), among others.
While continuing to follow Nadia TAGRINE's magnificent teaching, I was also lucky enough to receive instruction from the great masters who were to mark my life.
Among them: Vlado PERLEMUTER, György SEBOK, Lily KRAUS, Dimitri BASKIROV, Gaby CASADESUS,
Sulamita ARONOVSKI and Manuel ROSENTHAL.
For 30 years, I toured the world in recital or as a soloist under the direction of such great conductors as :
Lorin MAAZEL (Cleveland Orchestra), Jean-Claude CASADESUS (Orchestre de LILLE) or Sylvain CAMBRELING.
For many years, I have shared my love of chamber music with wonderful partners.
Among them: Lily LASKINE (harpist), Jean-Pierre RAMPAL (flutist), Alexandre SCHNEIDER, Devy ERLIH,
Olivier CHARLIER, Geneviève LAURENCEAU, Francine TRACHIER (violinists) and Ariane DOUGUET (soprano).
I have made several recordings devoted to French, Romantic and Russian music.
I am often invited to sit on juries for international competitions and to give Master Classes in France and abroad.
Since 2003, I've gradually stepped back from the international scene to devote myself to my 4 children, to the teaching I love so much (and have done since I was 12!) and to passing on what I've received.
To this end, I designed the TAGRINE Method and wrote several teaching books
published by VAN DE VELDE.
